+ Landlord & Tenant Issues

The Landlord & Tenant Board (LTB) resolves:

  • Disputes between residential landlords and tenants.
  • Eviction applications filed by non-profit housing co-operatives

The LTB also provides information about its practices and procedures and the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants under the Residential Tenancies Act.

+ Neighbourhood Traffic Concerns

The most efficient way to request neighbourhood traffic enforcement is by filing a Local Neighbourhood Traffic Report through the Toronto Police Service (TPS) online portal.

These reports help TPS track recurring traffic issues in neighbourhoods and assign officers accordingly.

+ Noise Complaints

The City of Toronto's Noise By-law requires that no person shall make, cause or permit, noise or vibration at any time, which is likely to disturb the inhabitants of the City.

The largest complaints are generally about construction, loud music or barking dogs.

Construction Hours:

  • Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Not allowed on Sundays and statutory holidays.

Some construction projects have noise exemption and can work outside of the above mentioned hours.

Municipal work or work undertaken due to emergency situations are exempt from the Noise By-law and exemption requirements.

If you wish to file a complaint about construction noise or all other types of noise, you can submit a service request to 311@toronto.ca or, by calling 311.

+ Parking Enforcement & Tickets

To report parking violations, please contact Toronto Police Parking Enforcement.

You can also email tpsparkingcomplaints@torontopolice.on.ca to address ongoing parking issues. Please include the following in your email:

  • Your name and phone number
  • The address or location where the issue occurs
  • The time of day when this issue most often occurs
  • The description of any vehicles related to the parking issue

  • Report a business operating illegally from a residence
  • Report a residence with frequent garage sales
  • Report waste or dumping on private property

If you have an issue related to roads, please visit the Service Requests for Roads webpage. You can request or report:

  • Minor pothole damage

  • Minor road damage

  • Minor sidewalk damage

  • Missing or faded pavement markings

  • Issues with pedestrian signal timing

  • Road surface cleaning (not litter)

  • Catch basin surface cleaning on a City road or boulevard

+ Snow Removal

If you have an issue related to snow or snow removal, please visit the Service Requests for Winter Issues webpage. You can request or report:

  • A bus stop ploughed or sanded/salted
  • A City bridge ploughed or sanded/salted
  • A driveway blocked by ploughed snow
  • Snow piled too high
  • Snow plough damage to a road, boulevard, or sidewalk
  • Ploughing or sanding/salting of a sidewalk
  • A walkway ploughed or sanded/salted

Please visit the PlowTO Map should you wish to track real-time locations of plows, sidewalk plows and salt trucks and identify which roads have been serviced by winter snow clearing vehicles and crews.

The City provides mechanical sidewalk snow clearing in most parts of Toronto however, the City is unable to provide this service in certain areas. View the City of Toronto's Sidewalk Plowing Map to view areas where the City is unable to plow sidewalks.

If you are a senior or a person with a disability living in an area where sidewalks are not plowed, and require sidewalk snow clearing service, please download the application form and submit it along with the required documentations.

If your sidewalk has high pedestrian volumes, then the sidewalk will be cleared when the snow has stopped and the accumulation has reached two centimetres. High pedestrian volume sidewalks are sidewalks on arterial roads, transit routes, near school zones, and around accessibility locations.

If your sidewalk has low pedestrian volumes, then the sidewalk will be cleared when the snow has stopped and the accumulation has reached eight centimetres. Low pedestrian volume sidewalks are sidewalks on local roads.

Generally, it takes approximately 13 hours to clear high and low pedestrian volume sidewalks after a snowfall.

While every attempt is made to clear all the residences on the service within 72 hours, if your sidewalk has not been cleared after 72 hours after the end of a snowfall, please call 311.

Sewer pipes are owned by you and the City

  • The part that the City owns runs from the sewermain on the street to the property line.

  • The part that you own runs from the property line into the home.

+ Traffic Calming

Please note, a petition is required for traffic calming requests to ensure that other residents on your street agree with the installation of traffic calming measures. You can view the template for a petition here.

The process involves the following:

  • Project initiation (i.e. petition, meeting request, etc.)
  • Consideration of area-wide impacts • Basic road safety/design review
  • Consultation with emergency services and TTC staff
  • Consideration of options
  • Report to Community Council

If traffic calming is technically supportable, the report will seek to:

  • Authorize poll;
  • Authorize road alteration by-law;
  • If traffic calming is not technically supportable, then an information report is submitted;
  • Conduct a form poll; and
  • Letter or report to proponent on poll results.

The TTC provides a specialized transit service for members of the public who need assistance getting around the city. For more information please visit here.
