Targeted COVID-19 Strategies in Toronto

As the City continues to fight the second wave of COVID-19, Toronto Public Health (TPH) is implementing targeted strategies to address community spread in the neighbourhoods that have been hardest-hit by the virus.

These new initiatives include:

  • Expanding testing in neighbourhoods with higher case rates by allowing the Province to use City facilities, using TTC buses for mobile testing, extending testing site hours, and providing transportation to and from testing sites;

  • Enhancing community outreach and engagement by improving case management, providing additional COVID-19 education to residents and employers, and leveraging relationships with trusted community organizations to disseminate information and distribute resources such as face masks; and

  • Improving supports for those who test positive and are unable to work.

TPH has advised that many of the new, targeted strategies they have developed are scalable and can be quickly pivoted to different neighbourhoods, as needed.
