Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program
Earlier this month, Toronto was hit with 59mm of rain, which broke the previous January rainfall record set in 1946. The City offers a subsidy program to help offset the costs associated with basement flooding that can occur with heavy precipitation.
Owners of single-family, duplex and triplex residential homes are eligible for a subsidy of up to $3,400 per property to install flood protection devices, such as:
Installation of a backwater valve;
Installation of a sump pump; or
Severance and capping of a home’s storm sewer or external weeping tile connection.
