Street Litter Bin Dog Waste Pilot - Phase 3
In May 2021, the City began offering a dog waste receptacle in some street litter bins as part of a new pilot project, launched in response to waste audits and field observations that showcased a high demand for this service.
The first phase of the pilot featured 10 bins, followed by an expanded, second phase in August 2021 with 38 bins – 30 of which were placed in new locations near parks or in areas with a high concentration of dogs. The third and final phase of the pilot began in April 2022 and will run for six months with a total of 100 bins. Once this third phase is complete, the City will assess the overall results to determine next steps. The pilot bin locations in Ward 15 – Don Valley West are:
88 Broadway Avenue;
150 Kilgour Road;
601 Merton Street; and
Randolph Road & Hanna Road.
You can find a full list of pilot bin locations, here. If no dog waste compartment is available, residents are asked to dispose of dog waste in the garbage or take it home and put it in their Green Bin. For more information on what types of organic waste can be disposed of in a Green Bin, please visit the City's website.
