The City's Home Energy Loan Program (HELP)

In 2021, the Federal government estimated that approximately 13% of national greenhouse gas emissions came from residential homes and other buildings due to the combustion of fossil fuels used for heating. Factoring in the electricity used for cooling, lighting, and appliances, the estimated contribution rises to 18%.

Making your home more energy efficient is not only beneficial for the environment, but can also save you money on energy bills. If you own a home in Toronto, you may qualify for the City's Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) which can be used to fund energy-efficient projects such as:

  • Air-source heat pumps;

  • Window/door replacements;

  • Insulation;

  • Air sealing; and

  • High-efficiency water heaters, furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners.
