Update – Renewing Overlea Boulevard Project

I am pleased to advise that public realm designs for the Renewing Overlea Boulevard Project are being finalized as City staff gear up for construction to begin next year.
 
In my last update, I shared that an artist had been selected to complete the public art components of the project. The commission will include sculptural and two-dimensional artworks integrated along Overlea Boulevard between Thorncliffe Park Drive East and Don Mills Road.
 
In November, the City's Design Review Panel met to provide input on the final designs for the project. The Panel comprises private sector design professionals – architects, landscape architects, urban designers and engineers – who provide independent, objective advice to City staff to improve public realm projects. Some of the issues discussed included the proposed bridge guardrails, overall connectivity with the broader transportation network, and safety elements.
