Provincial Transit-Oriented Community Proposed in Thorncliffe Park

The Province of Ontario is proposing to implement a Transit-Oriented Community (TOC) in Thorncliffe Park adjacent to the Ontario Line’s Thorncliffe Park Station. You can learn more about the TOC program here, and the proposed Thorncliffe Park TOC, here.
 
The Thorncliffe Park TOC is being led by Infrastructure Ontario, a Crown agency of the Province. Earlier this week, I sent out an email to Thorncliffe Park residents about two upcoming Open Houses organized by Infrastructure Ontario:

While the City of Toronto can provide feedback on the proposed TOC, all final decisions will be made by Infrastructure Ontario and approved by the Province’s Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing through a Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO). This means that, as a Provincially-led initiative, City Council does not have the authority to make decisions regarding the proposed TOC.
 
That said, it is critical for Thorncliffe Park residents to have their voices heard during this process. As the local Councillor, I will continue advocating for community benefits above and beyond the baseline requirements. I also believe a project of this scale should include a significant number of affordable units.
